Crime Report: Assault, Identity Theft and DWI
Police blotter for Hampton Bays for the week of Dec. 7 through Dec.13
Petit Larceny
The owner of Allegretta Electrical on Jackson Avenue in Hamptons Bays reported that copper pipes and wires were stolen from his property.
On Dec. 6 a resident of Hampton Bays Drive resident reported that during the night, someone removed about $250 cash and a pair of prescription eyeglasses valued at $150 from his unlocked car.
A Bayhill Road resident reported on that on Thursday a 7-foot blue spruce, valued at $600, was cut down and removed from her lawn.
The manager of King Kullen on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays reported that on Friday at around 3:14 p.m., a suspect left the store without paying for numerous items. Police said the suspect was taken into custody after a brief pursuit that started on Ponquogue Avenue. The suspect, James Schmitt, 47, of Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays was charged with petit larceny and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
Identity Theft and Grand Larceny
A Hampton Bays resident reported on Thursday that his father was the victim of identity theft. Someone transferred $26,700 on Oct. 26 to an Ameritrade account and withdrew $12,000 on Nov. 20 and opened numerous utility accounts at a Staten Island address.
Assault, Menacing, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon
David Casquarelli of Coolidge Lane in East Quogue was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with assault in the third degree, menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degrees. Police said Cacquarelli got into an altercation while at a residence on Greenlead Road in Hampton Bays with a victim who sustained a laceration to his eye.
DWI
Michelle Intermaggio, 49, of Wakeman Road in Hampton Bays, was arrested on Thursday in her driveway and charged with DWI and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Police said a 911 caller reported an erratic driver swerving on the road. The responding officer observed Intermaggio pull into her driveway from the wrong side of the road. Police said that Intermaggio was drunk and resisted arrest. She also refused to take a chemical test, police said.
Luis Rios Cruz, 33, of Hampton Bays was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday at around 5:29 p.m. Police said Cruz was parked in the fire zone at the United Artists movie theater in Hampton Bays, sitting behind the wheel with the engine running. An officer investigating Cruz's illegal parking determine he was intoxicated, police said.
