Cops: Water Skier Severs Hand in Quantuck Bay

The 22-year-old woman is in stable, but serious condition.

A 22-year-old, who was water skiing at a company end of summer outing in Quantuck Bay on Monday, lost her hand, according to

Police say a co-worker was pulling the woman on a jet ski near Hobart Lane in Quiogue around 2:17 when the woman wrapped her hand in the tow rope, instantly severing her hand.

Another co-worker, police said, was able to recover her hand.

The woman was treated by volunteers and taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police Helicopter. Police say she is in stable, but serious condition.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
