Cops: Two Assaulted and Robbed Man For $60

Both men were charged with felonies.

Southampton Town police have charged two men for assaulting and robbing another man of $60 in the parking lot of Chase Bank in Hampton Bays. 

According to police, on Thursday morning at 4:30 a.m., an anonymous call alerted police to a crime in progress at the bank. 

Through an investigation, police said they learned that Matthew A. Caiaccia, 30, of Port Jefferson and Lester Dejon Pettaway, 21, of Brookhaven, drove their victim from Bub's Tavern in Hampton Bays to the bank where police said they assaulted him with a the butt end of a knife and robbed him of $60 that he took out of the ATM machine. 

Caiaccia and Pettaway were charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and robbery in the first degree, also a felony. The men were also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. 

The men are being held on $50,000 bail.
