Updated: Teen Killed in DWI Accident on Sunday

Car reportedly flipped over through a lawn and struck a BMW parked in a driveway.

Southampton Town police said a 17-year-old was driving drunk and speeding when his car crashed in East Quogue, killing his 18-year-old passenger on Sunday night.

Police, who withheld the name of the passenger pending identification of the body, have since released his name.  They say , a student who graduated from on Sunday was identified as the passenger who was killed in the crash. He is from Quiogue.

According to police, Taylor Geib, 17, of East Quogue, lost control of a 2007 Honda Accord on the 30-mile and hour Lewis Road near Mitchell Place in East Quogue sometime before 11:15 p.m.  Geib’s car reportedly veered onto a lawn, flipped over and struck a 2006 BMW that was parked in the driveway of a residence.

"Preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed and alcohol contributed to this accident," according to a statement from Detective Sgt. Randy Hintze.

Gieb was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued summons for unsafe speed and failure to maintain his lane. He was released on an appearance ticket, but remains hospitalized.

According to Brookhaven Hospital, Geib is in the hospital's Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

Police said they expect additional charges to be added, as the crash is still under investigation.

The East Quogue Fire Department used heavy rescue equipment to extricate Gieb and his passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An ambulance transported Geib, a student at , to Brookhaven Hospital.

The Honda was impounded for a safety check.
