UPDATED: Missing Woman Located

Elderly woman had been reported missing.

UPDATED: Southampton Police said a woman who had previously been reported missing was found around 12:30 p.m.

Southampton Police Sgt. Howard Kalb said the woman was found up the street. She was transported to Southampton Hospital by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance, though the extent of any injuries was not immediately clear. 

"Often times in these kinds of cases, people are transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons," Kalb said.

ORIGINAL STORY: Southampton Police are searching for a woman who was reported missing around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Sgt. Howard Kalb, the woman – approximately 80 years old – suffers from dementia and was last seen near Bay Avenue East in Hampton Bays. Kalb said she was last seen wearing a plaid shirt and black pants.

Police have called in the aid of a Suffolk County helicopter and K-9 unit to search for the woman, who Kalb said uses the aid of a walker.
