Cops Release Photo Of Suspected Armed Robber

Police hope someone recognizes serial robber who used a handgun to stick up no less than 15 stores since early December.

The Suffolk County Police Department has released a surveillance video still-photo of the man they think may be responsible for a pattern of armed robberies across Suffolk County this past month.

The photograph matches the earlier description of the suspect shared by police: an hispanic man between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 inches tall. In the photo, which was captured at Tuesday night's robbery of the Best Express convenience store in Lake Ronkonkoma, he appears to don a dark goatee and is wearing a knit cap with a heavy, dark-colored winter jacket.

The suspect is wanted in a series of robberies that have taken place throughout Lake Ronkonkoma, Nesconset, Farmingville, Medford, Patchogue, Shirley and Coram among other areas since Dec. 9. In all of the robberies the suspect used a handgun.

On Tuesday night the man entered the Best Express on Ronkonkoma Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. and demanded cash. After the robbery he fled on foot.

Police are asking anyone with information identifying or locating this suspect to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at (1-800-220-TIPS). All calls will be kept confidential.
