Cops: Man Nabbed in Riverside, Flanders Crime Spree

Police said they arrested the defendant while incarcerated.

A Riverhead man allegedly behind a string of crimes committed in the Flanders and Riverside area has been charged, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on Tuesday, Robert Ray Noon III, 38, of Riverhead, was arrested -- he is currently incarcerated at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges -- by detectives and charged with a string of crimes committed in the Flanders and Riverside area between Dec., 2012 and Feb., 2013.

Police said on Dec. 27 , at 3:40 p.m., a male resident was burglarized in his home on County Road 104 during which time the suspect allegedly held a hard object to the back of his head, forced him down on his bed, and robbed him of his wallet containing cash and a debit card.

Next, police said on Feb. 3, the attendant of the Shell Gas Station and Mini-mart in Riverside reported that a male subject had entered the store, allegedly stolen several grocery items and fled the scene in what police later determined was a stolen vehicle out of Mastic.

Noon was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, a felony, robbery in the third degree, a felony, criminal possession of a stolen vehicle, a felony, and petty larceny

He was arraigned at Southampton Justice Court and remanded back to the county jail.

Police said during the same time frame, several other homes in the area were burglarized and several other vehicles were stolen.

Anyone with information on the criminal activity is asked to call Southampton Town police detectives, 631-702-2230.
