Cops: Man Nabbed for Stealing Two Large Screen TVs From Home

The driver was stopped for speeding, police said.

A Riverhead man was arrested last week after police said he swiped two large screen TVs from a home in West Hampton Dunes.

According to New York State police, Melvin Herrera, 22, was stopped on Oct. 1 at 10 p.m. by West Hampton Dunes constables for speeding on Dune Road.

While interviewing Herrera, the constables said they noticed two large screen televisions inside the vehicle.

The constables contacted New York State police, Riverside barracks, for assistance with the investigation. Herrera later admitted to stealing the TVs from a West Hampton Dunes home, police said.

Herrera was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, a felony, police said; he will return to the Village of West Hampton Dunes Justice Court.
