Cops: Man Hit By Westhampton Beach Driver Dies Of His Injuries

An accident led to tragedy in Cutchogue this week.

An elderly man who was seriously hurt in Cutchogue after being hit by a car driven by a Westhampton Beach woman on Tuesday has died, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Domenick Manzolillo, 79, of St. Augustine, Florida, was crossing Route 25 in Cutchogue in a pedestrian crosswalk in front of Our Lady of Mercy school when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Mimi Christy, 48, of Westhampton Beach.

Manzolillo was treated by the Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue unit and brought to Peconic Bay Medical Center in serious condition. He later died of his injuries, Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley said Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. No charges were filed against Christy.
