Cops: Man Busted in Riverside for Driving With Crack In his Car

The man had crack cocaine in a straw, police said.

An unlicensed Middle Island man was arrested on Monday on County Road 94 in Riverside after police said they found crack in a straw and in his possession.

According to Southampton Town police, the man, 40, was arrested at 9:09 p.m. and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and traffic infractions.

He was stopped for a traffic violation and was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, police said; a DMV check also revealed his license had been suspended.

The driver was arrested at scene, transported to police headquarters for processing, and held for morning arraignment.
