Cops: Hampton Bays Man Drove Drunk Through Stop Sign, Into a Car

A Hampton Bays man was arrested last Thursday after police said he was driving drunk and hit another car after going through a stop sign in Hampton Bays.

A Hampton Bays man was arrested last Thursday, police said, after he drove through a stop sign while driving drunk.

Jose C. Vaquero, 46, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Argonne Rd. and Wakeman Rd. in Hampton Bays. Police responded to an accident at the intersection and upon police arrival, police said it was determined that Vaquero was drunk and he was arrested on misdemeanor charges and several violations. He was transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

Vaquero was charged with aggravated DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors. He was also charged with the following violations: failure to yield at a stop sign, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, unregistered trailer, unsafe tire, no stop lamps, unlicensed operation.
