Cops and Blotters: Posh Rides Stolen, Man Caught with Child Porn

Police and crime headlines during the week of June 17.

The following is a round-up of headlines related to cops and crime this week.


1. Thieves Boost Posh Rides from Dune Road Driveways

Three top-end cars were taken from the driveways of three Dune Road residences this week. According to police, the cars stolen, included a blue, 2013 Mercedes Benz, which was taken in Quogue; a black, 2013 Mercedes Benz that was thieved in Westhampton Beach and a Porsche, which was snatched in West Hampton Dunes. All of the cars, which were reported stolen between June 15 and 16, are valued at over $100,000. 

2. Town Police Report Uptick in Phone Scams

Scam phone calls are becoming more common on the East End lately, with more residents falling victim, according to Southampton Town Police Department detectives. Some residents have caught on that they were being scammed before sending any money, but others have lost hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of dollars. 

3. Man Crashes, Then Charged With DWI

A 19-year-old Riverhead man, who Westhampton Beach police said crashed into another car near Old Riverhead Road, was caught and charged with DWI on June 12. 

4. Quogue Police Log: 7 Nabbed for DWI

5. Incident Reports: Residents Surprised by Man Who Enters Home

Two residents reported to Southampton police this week that a man entered their home while they were home and said he needed to use the bathroom and then fled. 

6. Southampton Police Log: Man Caught With Child Pornography

A 54-year-old East Quogue man was charged with a felony count of possession of child pornography, on June 14 after an investigation. He was arrested on Montauk Highway in East Quogue.
