Cops and Blotters: Man Drowns; Drug Dealers Charged

Police and crime headlines during the week of July 15.

The following is a round-up of headlines related to cops and crime this week.

1. Cops: Hampton Bays Man Caught Selling Cocaine

Southampton Town police have charged a Hampton Bays man for allegedly selling cocaine in Southampton. 

On Friday, the 26-year-old was charged by the East End Task Force with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a felony.

3. Incident Report: Beach Bar Beat Down

A Hampton Bays man took a beating outside of the Beach Bar on Saturday at around 4 a.m. According to a police report, they said that after he left the club, he was punched in the back of the head and believed he was repeatedly struck, though he said he did not remember the turn of events that led to the incident at all. The man suffered a broken nose, concussion, bruised knee and cuts and bruises to the face.

Another Posh Ride Stolen From Westhampton Beach

A brand-new, gray Mercedes Benz was stolen from a driveway on Dune Road this week — it is the fourth posh ride snatched from Dune Road driveways in recent weeks. 

Westhampton Beach police said the latest car stolen was delivered a day earlier by a Brooklyn Mercedes Benz dealer and the keys were left hidden in the car.

6. 75-Year-Old Drowns in Westhampton Beach Pool

Emergency responders were not able to revive a 75-year-old man, who was found floating in a Stacy Drive pool in Westhampton Beach on July 7. 

7. Child Nearly Drowns in Backyard Pool

On Monday evening an unresponsive child was rescued from a Hampton Bays pool. 

According to police, who did not release the child's age, emergency responders, including the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance were called to Rampasture Point in Hampton Bays where they found the child, who required CPR.

8. Drug Task Force Busts Alleged Heroin Dealer

A Hampton Bays man was arrested Tuesday for reportedly selling heroin, following a six-month investigation by the East End Drug Task Force.

According to Southampton Town police, a search warrant was executed at the Penny Lane home of a 46-year-old man, and he and another woman were arrested there.

9. American Flags Desecrated In East Quogue


Vandals desecrated five American flags and four poles that graced the East Quogue village green in the overnight hours of Thursday, according to the Town of Southampton.

Only the largest flag at the popular park remained flying.
