Child Nearly Drowns in Backyard Pool

Ambulance members and hospital staff were able to restart the child's heart.

On Monday evening an unresponsive child was rescued from a Hampton Bays pool.

According to police, who did not release the child's age, emergency responders, including the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance were called to Rampasture Point in Hampton Bays where they found the child, who required CPR.

The child was transported to Stony Brook University where ambulance personnel and hospital staff were able to restart the child's heart.

Police did not release any further details, stating that the Southampton Town Police Detective Division is investigating the incident further.

"Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation the identities of parties involved are being withheld," said police.
