UPDATED: Car Collided With DOT Truck On Sunrise Highway

Two DOT workers were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Update, 5:10 p.m.: State Police report that a Chevy Malibu traveling in the left, westbound lane of Sunrise Highway near exit 62 crashed into a Department of Transportation Truck that was parked in the median, set to remove a dead deer from the roadway.

Police said the driver of the car skidded on the wet roadway after trying to slow down when a Ford Explorer that was traveling in front of him swerved to avoid the DOT truck.

Two DOT workers who were inside the truck when the car slammed into it were taken by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medial Center with non-life-treating injuries. The driver of the Malibue and a third DOT worker, who was outside the truck were not injured.
