Campaign Sign Vandalized; Shingles Torn from Roof

Wildwood Bowl in Northampton burglarized, police say.

Southampton Town police released the following incident reports for the week of Oct. 14:

East Quogue

• Southampton Town Highway Superintendent Alex Gregor filed a complaint after a penis was spray painted on his campaign sign at the intersection of Lewis Road and County Road 104 on Oct. 8. He said he passed the sign at 7:45 a.m. and there was no problem, but by 8:35 a.m., it had been spray painted.

• On Oc. 11 at about 9:30 p.m., a business owner reported seeing two to three teenagers on a Montauk Highway roof, ripping off shingles and throwing them on the ground. They used a ladder that was already there to access the roof. They were gone before police arrived.

• A door at a County Road 104 house was forced open, multiple drawers were gone through, and some jewelry and a Samsung laptop computer was taken on Oct. 11. The victim filed a report at 10 p.m., but it was unclear when the burglary may have occurred.

Westhampton

• A 7-Eleven employee called police after he asked a man, who was standing in front of the business doors on Mill Road for more than 45 minutes trying to solicit work, to leave on Oct. 13 at about 9 a.m. The man refused, saying, “This is God’s property, not yours.” Police gave the man a notice of trespass and advised him not to return.

• A landlord accused a former tenant of taking a wool knitted blanket and a picture of a tree, worth $80, from a house on Stewart Avenue sometime before Oct. 10.

Hampton Bays

• A woman said she was in her living room on Shore Road when she saw a man looking through her window on Oct. 13. The man then knocked on her front door and left. Police said similar incidents occurred on Cedar Street and Bay Avenue West that same day. Police did not say what time this incident occurred.

• A bottle of Percocet was stolen from a woman’s pocketbook, behind the service counter, at Moe’s Southwest Grill on West Montauk Highway on Oct. 13. The theft occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. There were about 15 pills left in the bottle, the victim said. Two other prescriptions were left behind.

• The owner of Squiretown Restaurant on West Montauk Highway reported a cooler stolen from a fenced-in area on the east side of his restaurant on Oct. 8. He told police this is an ongoing problem and that he has had a number of items stolen over the years. He requested additional patrols.

Riverside

• About $700 worth of items were stolen from a pickup truck parked in a driveway on Flanders Road on Oct. 12. Sunglasses, Coby monitors on the headrests, a Garmin GPS, an iPod, and coins were taken.

• An XM radio, worth $100, and an unknown amount of coins were reported stolen from a car parked in a driveway on Lake Avenue on Oct. 12 between midnight and 7 a.m.

• A suspect stole a Flanders man’s checkbook from his bedroom after going to the man’s house to collect $50 for work that was done on Oct. 8.

• A motorcycle that was chained to a deck at a Flanders house was stolen after the chain was cut on Oct. 8. The KTM motorcycle was worth $3,5000. Detectives are investigating.

Northampton

• On Oct. 12, Wildwood Bowl on Lake Avenue reported a burglary that happened between 1:30 and 3 a.m., during which two people got in through the west side door and broke into an arcade game. They also stole an iPhone of unknown value.
