Break-In Reported in Westhampton; Police Seek Public's Help
Police say burglar stole cash and jewelry.
Southampton Police are reporting that someone forced their way into a home on Summit Boulevard in Westhampton by breaking through a window on September 2 between 4:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
The 70-year-old homeowner, a retired chef, told police the burglar went through his home's four bedrooms, throwing clothing on the floor and stealing cash, jewelry and collectors’ coins. The chef said items taken included $450 cash, $5,000 in collectors’ coins, two diamonds rings valued together at $10,000, a $1,050 jade bracelet, and a $1,500 jade ring.
Police believe the burglar left the house through the front door and carried the stolen items away in two stolen pillowcases and a black suitcase.

Police say neighbors did not notice anything suspicious.
