Armed Break-In Leads to Fatal Shooting in Flanders

A 21-year-old was killed after two armed men broke into a home in Flanders.

A 21-year old Flanders man has died after he was shot in the chest on Sunday morning.

The man, Demitri Hampton, was reportedly shot in the chest by two armed men who entered his home at 200 Priscilla Ave., according to Suffolk County police, who were alerted after they received a 911 call at about 3:15 a.m.

Hampton was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead were he was pronounced dead.

Police are still actively investigating — Priscilla Avenue is cordoned off at Wood Road Trail and Short Avenue with Suffolk County homicide detectives, the Suffolk County crime lab van on scene, and the county's mobile command post, along with Southampton Town police. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

This is the perfect example of why more people should excersise their 2nd amendment right to bear arms. If this young man had his own firearm maybe he could have protected himself and his household. With all the people out there that own guns and dont know how to properly use them, there should also be the ones who own them and do know how to properly use them. if there were more people out their with guns then nobody would want to rob another person with a gun thus crime would falter.
