UPDATE: No Explosives Found Following Bomb Threat

Police and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are still investigating a threat sent to the Long Island Press on Thursday.

Update, 5:45 p.m.: Quogue police said Thursday afternoon that after a receiving a call in relation to a bomb threat, a canvas of Quogue Elementary School yielded no evidence of explosives on campus.

According to police, a call from the Long Island Press in Syosset came in at 11:14 a.m., and New York State Police promptly dispatched two explosive-sniffking K-9s to the school. No explosives were found in the unoccupied school, and police said the incident remains under investigation by Quogue Police, Nassau County Police and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Original story: Quogue Police are on scene at the elementary school after a newspaper reportedly received a letter on Thursday reporting a bomb at the school, while students are on school break.

The Long Island Press reported receiving an envelope Thursday with no return address. A note on the inside of the blank envelope reads: "I left my bomb at Quogue School on Edgewood Rd."

Quogue Police could not immediately comment on the incident, though police confirmed they are on scene at the elementary school investigating.

Students are off school this week, through Monday. A call to the school was not answered.
