75-Year-Old Drowns in Westhampton Beach Pool

This was the first of two drowning calls area officials have responded to this summer.

Emergency responders were not able to revive a 75-year-old man, who was found floating in a Stacy Drive pool in Westhampton Beach on July 7.

According to Westhampton Beach police, the man was found by his wife, who ran to a neighbor's house for help.

Police said when they arrived they found that the neighbors managed to pull the man from the pool. Officers started CPR until an ambulance crew arrived. The man was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and pronounced dead at 4 p.m.

This was the first of two drowning calls area officials have responded to this summer. The second call came on Monday evening to Southampton Town police — a child was found unconscious in the pool. Emergency responders, however, were able to revive the child with the help of hospital staff at Stony Brook University Hospital.
