Quogue Police Log: Three Teens Faces Alcohol-Related Charges

Alcohol Possession
Three local 18-year-olds face minor drug and alcohol charges after police were called to a party on Old Depot Road in Quogue Friday night, according to village Police.

A neighbor complained about a party on Old Depot road, and when police arrived they saw three 18-year-olds sitting in a parked car along the street. Michael Corrigan of East Quogue was sitting inside and had alcohol he planned to drink, officers said. He was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol with intent to consume, a misdemeanor.
Officers also smelled marijuana in the car. They charged two 18-year-olds, who were also sitting in the car with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Driving While Ability Impaired
Edward Befey, 55, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Quogue Village Police Sunday at 11:45 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Quogue and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony. Police said they stopped Benfey for changing lanes unsafely when they discovered that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs, possibly an amphetamine-based stimulant called Adderall. Befey faces a felony charge because of a prior conviction, police said.
Nicholas Hopkins, 23, of Wading River was arrested by Quogue Village Police Thursday, Oct. 27 on County Road 104 in Quogue and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said Hopkins was pulled over for ignoring a stop sign when they discovered he had marijuana on him and had used it earlier.
Unlicensed Operation
John Longman, 45, of Medford was arrested by Quogue Village Police Wednesday, Oct. 26 on County Road 104 in Quogue and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Longman was stopped for ignoring a stop sign when police discovered his license had been suspended.
