The Mind/Body Connection

Simple insights to finding gentle ways to balance our lives. Having a life filled with drama or joy is our choice. Which one do you choose?

Can we truly be healthy, on all levels, without a connection between our body, our spirit, our mind?  Our thoughts, actions and words are more powerful than many individuals could imagine. When we speak words of anger, negativity, judgement it is the same as spewing out venom.  This negativity touches, not just the situation, or individual, it is directed at, but, also ourselves.  The same is true with our thoughts and actions — all are powerful.

We can all remember an instance where our peace, and joy were disrupted by angry words or actions.  Thinking to that time, how did you feel?  Did you still feel at peace?  Did you, perhaps feel ill during or after the disruption?  Did your heart rate increase?  Blood pressure rise?  Breathing become shallow and quick? Stomach ache?  Headache?

These symptoms occur whether we are the giver or recipient of the energy. To present a simple example, would you want to eat a meal prepared by someone who loved what they were doing, or someone filled with resentment and negativity?  Yes, it truly does make a difference.  One is "feeding" you love, joy and pleasure, the other is feeding you all their negativity, dis-ease with themselves or their situation.  It would be unrealistic to think we will never experience emotions such as, anger, resentment, jealousy, etc.  The key is, how do we deal with these?

We are the only one in control of and responsible for our response, or reaction to a person or situation.  We CAN choose our words and actions to deal with the situation.  The end result of our words, thoughts, actions will have a great impact on not only the other person(s), but, upon ourselves, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. There are individuals that know no other way of life other than being negative, or being the victim — so easily to point the finger of blame upon others rather than take responsibility for their own thoughts, words and actions.

In numerous international scientific/medical studies, the percentage of individuals with chronic illness are those who seek out or create drama, have a constant negative, or, "poor me" outlook.  The "glass is half empty" attitude, rather than the "glass is half full" attitude, has impact upon your body, your mind, your LIFE.  We will all have situations where we will experience the "dark side" of our personality; will we think enough of ourselves to stop, take a few deep breaths before we poison ourselves and others with negativity that can be avoided?  It takes practice, and is well worth the time and effort.  Each day remember to do something for yourself that brings you joy, peace and brings you balance of your thoughts, words and actions.  Who better than yourself to practice on?  Take the word "try" out of your vocabulary, either "do" or do not "do."  You are NOT responsible for any words, thoughts or actions other than your own.  Why take another persons' behavior personally? We are responsible for our health and the balance we bring into our body and our life.  Why not bring in LOVE, JOY, POSITIVE OUTLOOK, GRATITUDE?
