Hurricane Irene - 'Irene' Means 'Peace'?

Peace be with all of you

Did you know 'Irene' means 'peace' in Greek?  As we have been preparing for Hurricane Irene, I have had a peaceful feeling about it all and I see it in other people as well.  There was plenty of time to prepare and people didn't seem agitated as in the past.  Anderson Cooper and other news anchors seemed eerily quiet about the whole event as well.  The panic hasn't been there as in past storms, but there is a little "calm before the storm" going on in my mind right now.  What actually is coming as I write this blog at 6:53 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011?

Whatever comes, we have prepared as best as we can.  The neighbors are all tucked away in their homes and a few calls here and there assure me that they are prepared as well.  Our little store is secured to prepare for the winds, but who knows what we'll find after Irene leaves?  There is always an element of wonder, doubt and fear.  What will be - will be.

We wish you much peace as you experience the rain and winds of Hurricane Irene.
