We need stiffer fines for littering and for landowners and business owners who don't pick up litter on their property and their names should be published. The lot at Stop n Shop os often frightful. People dump their household refuse rather than paying to dump it. The store management should be cited for not policing itself or picking up refuse on a regular basis.

send the illegal aliens home.

The front of Squiretown restaurant needs painting. They have been opened for business for 2+ years and have done nothing to improve the area around their sign. Also the Hamlet Green sign is falling apart. The owners should be fined.

Squiretown Restaurant is very nice inside, and the food is good, but the owners need to take some pride in our village and clean up the facade. It looks neglected and a bit run down. Would it look like that if it were in Southampton?

These are the same owners who were quoted in the Press when they opened that they were going to put Hampton Bays on the map and that their predecessor had a dark dreary dump. I would have expected a concerned owner to have been outside at eight in the morning with a brush and a bucket the last time they were called out on this about a month ago. And get a real sign, you certainly charge enough to afford one.

Stop all those illegals from hang out in the movie theater parking lot. It scares everyone
blowfish September 01, 2012 at 02:12 PM
The illegals have taken over the whole friggin town.
blowfish September 01, 2012 at 02:47 PM
If a bunch of Americans started hanging out in front of the movie theater, or 7-11 looking for work, they'd be given citations for loitering.Double standards.
Bojames September 01, 2012 at 02:49 PM
and we KNOW they are illegal how?
joe hampton September 01, 2012 at 03:15 PM
Let ask them thats how. I have no problem showing Id if asked .... Do You?

Its only the illegals that are ticking me off.Anyone who wants to start a new life in the USA should be able to, but don't bleed the system and expect me to foot the bill. That goes for the idiots who are hiring off the books and not paying any taxes, they're reeking havoc on the working class. My taxes are up and the land lords that are illegally over filled lowering my home's value and my quality of life.

The shopping center with Kriegs Bake shop and Liggetts Drugs is so barren and lifeless. It could use some planters near the sidewalk with some green landscaping or flowers. Its just a big ugly parking lot right in the middle of town. Who owns this property anyway?

Went to Meschutt beach Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. Spanish music playing, music during break all in Spanish. same thing on the 4th of july. are we becoming a spanish speaking town now. Cant we have some English speaking music on a holiday weekend?

Ugly boarded up house on Canoe Place Road north of Fanning. Someone painted over the graffiti like real estate listing scribbled on the side of the house, probably because of complaints. this place looks like hell, tear it down. Also CPI looks like hell now. Whats going on there anyway. Im surprised the Fire Marshall isnt doing something about these deathtraps.
Ralebird September 02, 2012 at 05:41 AM
You bet I do, Joe. You'd better be a law enforcement official with a genuine reason to want to see my ID.

The Hamlet Green needs help, it is looking pretty bad. The sign, the roadway, store fronts, grassy area and parking lot needs maintenance and upkeep. Who is supposed to take care of that?

Come on Hampton Bays residents, you (we) have created the illegal invasion within our small community. We house them along with over housing. We employ them at low wages, long hours and no taxes being paid! They over use our welfare system because they can! Medical, food stamps, WIC all three of these programs you can get without an SS # based on a doctors note of confirmed pregency! So who are the fools? THE AMERICAN's. The American dream of being a homeowner, paying the bills and obeying the laws is out dated. Break the law, don't pay your bills, don't buy a home, work off the books get pregent and your family will reap the benifits!
hampton bays resident September 07, 2012 at 01:35 AM
Has anyone ever gone to the small towns in Europe? They are out early in the morning with trucks cleaning and washing down the street. You never see the garbage you see here. Why are we the dumping ground for slobs that don't know how to use a garbage pail.
mj September 13, 2012 at 05:59 PM
about the blight ,try looking at the rundown motel housing whole families on north road!
jks September 26, 2012 at 09:29 PM
Squiretown Restaurant looks a little better, just a bandaid fix but it helps.
jks September 26, 2012 at 09:34 PM
I agree with Jim, this is America. We have been invaded by so many Spanish speaking individuals who don't really want to learn English, but they do enjoy the benefits of living here.
jks September 27, 2012 at 03:20 PM
I have been contacted by the owner of Squiretown Restaurant who says that he and the property owner are working together to improve the exterior of this restaurant. The front of the building looks a little better after having been polished up a bit.

Squiretown restaurant needs new facade. hamlet green needs to be cleaned up, the movie thearter parking lot needs to end the loitering ( isnt that illegal anyway?) The shopping center where kriegs and liggets is needs a new facade, then down the road to katrinka shopping center, mulvey and that entire strip needs to be redone, hopefully the CPI project will get moving and maybe that will encourage others to take care and update their property, encourage tourism instead of chasing them away would help with the hotels and motels turning into shelters, and section 8 housing. The town for the past 20 years has chased the summer tourists away and that was the start of the new blight. I will take kids having fun over the loitering and littering going on and what about all the illegal yard sale signs and for sale signs on houses, and cars for sale on the side of the street. Hire more Police and Code enforcement, fire marshals and lets get on this before its to late and we turn into mini brooklyn
