Southampton400+..The myth about co2

Since Southampton 400+ has its roots in the environmental movement as first suggested by the United Nations as a way to control most human activity. It is important to review what environmental data has lead us to this tipping point.  Southampton 400+ is going to save us from perceived doom  the degradation of our environment and secure for the citizens of Southampton a more communal environment, village centered, a visionary utopia.  Carbon dioxide levels have risen to 400ppm,(parts for million).  Al Gore reminds us that this is the point of no return for the planet, with rising temperatures causing widespread catastrophic events. But hold on; before a US Senate Committee Dr. Will Happer a famous physicist at Princeton University describes our warming trend began after a cool period around 1800 well before the rise of CO2, in fact we are in a carbon famine. carbon has been as high as 8000ppm.  Carbon is a bit player.  Temperature variations are caused mostly, 90%, by water, clouds and sun activity.  Carbon is not a pollutant, it is beneficial, just ask a plant. For the record the earth is in a slight cooling period over the last 15 years. The United States has reduced its carbon output by 9% and it continues to fall.  Why are you being regulated to control carbon? because the developing world especially Russia, India and Communist China, which opens 1 new coal fired plant every two weeks, are largely responsible for the rise in atmospheric carbon.  You are subsidizing their economic development with higher fuel costs, car costs, food costs just about anything that relies on energy.
So why is Southampton400+  not a good plan? because it is more of a political document meant to begin the urbanization of Southampton.  We have stressed the educational need to inform citizens and seek their voluntary engagement.  If the town wants to use public facilities as test beds fine but don't extend regulation into the lives of its citizens. We have asked the town to have a more board based educational conversation with its citizens.  The Green Committee is like minded and offers a singular view.  Please stay engaged, call the town board and voice your concerns for transparency and freedom for regulation.  Remember what we can't do alone we can do together
