Question of the Day: Are You Researching Your Family History?

Let your fellow Patch readers know.

With the Quogue Historical Society opening a new headquarters with research capability and the popularity of shows like NBC’s "Who do You Think You Are" and websites such as Ancestry.com on the rise, Patch wants to know if you have started researching your family history, and what you have found? We want to hear your family stories, so feel free to shout them out in the comment section below.

I did last year. Found the ship records and passport info from my great-grandfather coming from Italy. My grandfather never knew he was named after HIS grandfather, so he got a kick out of that. And since I'm the third, I was named after him too! Sure was interesting stepping back in time and looking at all those documents. Ancestry offered a two-week trial for free too, so did it as no cost...just have to make sure to cancel the subscription before the two weeks is up so they don't hit you for a yearly subscription!
