#91 Red Creek Park is a Recreational Paradise

Red Creek Park has several sports fields, tennis courts, hiking trails and a skate park.

Stop by Red Creek Park on any sunny Sunday afternoon and you're likely to find families, teens and sports enthusiasts of all ages enjoying the park's plethora of recreational facilities. Located on Old Riverhead in Hampton Bays, the park welcomes visitors from sunrise to 10 p.m. every day.

The quiet early morning hours are the perfect time to beat the crowds and enjoy a hike through the park's nature trail. The trail head begins on the far right of the parking lot, between the basketball court and baseball field, and winds over a few hills and through the pine barrens for about two miles. Whether enjoying a brisk run or a leisurely walk, the myriad of nature trails are mostly low impact making them beginner friendly.

is also located inside the park, which makes taking one of the up-for-adoption pooches for a walk a real pleasure. A stroll through the trails' leafy paths is the perfect way to an hour of your time. In addition to enjoying the park's lovely surrondings, you'll be providing some much needed exercise, and love, for a shelter dog.

The park’s two playgrounds offer recreational fun for children of all ages. Older children love the playground’s corkscrew slide and the younger kids’ equipment features a plastic tunnel, a chime board and slide. Vending machines and bathrooms are located near the playground area, which conveniently allows parents to keep their eyes on children wanting to enjoy a soda at the vending machine.

Even if you’re not a skateboarder, it’s very cool to sit on one of the benches and watch the skaters catch some air on the half-pipe. With variety of ramps and jumps suited for a mixed-level of skaters, the chain link enclosed arena hums with the sound of plastic wheels speeding down the boarded ramps. The skate park charges a membership fee, but day passes are available for the occasional skateboard park sojourn.
