1938 HURRICANE EXHIBIT

Westhampton Beach Historical Society has put together a fantastic exhibit in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the 1938 Hurricane. The Exhibit begins with the weather pattern that brought us such destructive winds and tidal wave, and continues with hundreds of photos of the day of the Hurricane and the days that followed. A 7 or 8 min presentation of the events of the day is set up for all to watch and includes some actual 16mm film taken the day after the Hurricane. There are several artifacts and personal scrapbooks which were recently donated to the Society. Two maps depict the extent of damage with photos showing what happened where. The Museum - located at 101 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach, will be open every Saturday this summer from 10 am to 2 pm - Admittance is free. Donations gratefully accepted.
