Celebrate National Grandparents Day in Westhampton and Hampton Bays

Capturing precious memories, family recipes and legends from grandparents can be easy and fun.

Grandparents hold a special place in the lives and hearts of their families, as both precious sources of wisdom and treasured stories of years gone by -- and also, as bestowers of infinite hugs, kisses and boundless love.

To celebrate grandparents, there are two happenings in Westhampton and Hampton Bays this weekend in honor of National Grandparents Day, which is Sunday.

On Saturday at 1 p.m., the is holding a Grandparents Day story and craft program. The program will feature heartwarming stories and a craft that children can make for the special grandpa/ma in their life. The program is free.

Then, on Sunday, the is hosting a Grandparents Day breakfast at the Hampton Bays Senior Center on Ponquogue Avenue. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $8, $5 ages 12 and under, $25 for 2 adults and 2 children.

Grandparents frequently are the keepers of precious family memories, recipes and legends. On National Grandparents Day you can also celebrate by visiting a grandparent and capturing some life history and wisdom for future generations. Area libraries have numerous resorces to help trace your family tree as do area historical societies, including those in Hampton Bays, Quogue and Westhampton Beach.
