Thursday Night on Around the Beach With Lisa Fox: New Leash Animal Rescue
Community webshow
Thursday on Around the Beach, our special guest is Kristen Hernandez of New Leash Animal Rescue — they are doing the most heroic saves...helping with the rescue of abandoned dogs. Hear her story tonight at 8 p.m. Below you will find her mission.
New Leash Animal Rescue, Inc. began almost 3 years ago. My husband Troy and I volunteered at a local shelter every Saturday. We would walk the dogs, play with them just give them some love and time out of their cages. It was very frustrating because it was a shelter there was so much you could not do. We found as a rescue we could pull dogs and take them into our rescue and work with them one on one. Help them become a family pet again.
Our rescue was created and in the memory of my best friend Beth who died tragically a little over 3 years ago. It was a passion we both shared and did individual rescues on our own. After she passed I wanted to keep her dream as well as mine alive. This is how New Leash Rescue was created and has grown since then. In the past year we have placed over 200 shelter dogs. Everything from a pregnant mama from a gassing shelter to a bait dog from Brooklyn. My husband and I both work full time jobs so we depend heavily on foster families and volunteers. We always need more. We are always in need of donations of food, treats, toys and bedding. Our motto is ..."until they all have a home..."
