TAKE BACK THE TOWN

Election Day is less than 4 weeks away.  Voters have important choices to make among the various candidates running for local government offices, in particular for Southampton Town Supervisor and Town Council.  Choose who you believe will best represent you and your family.

When I began this year’s campaign, I thought we would be talking about our Town’s future – protecting our small Town way of life and environment, bolstering our local economy, strengthening and streamlining our Town Codes, proactive code enforcement, and ensuring continued fiscal responsibility.

Unfortunately, debate after debate, the incumbent has made false claims that I caused the Town’s prior budgetary problems and that I mismanaged the Town.  It is silly season and there is a pattern of untruthfulness.  Don’t buy it.  The Facts Do Not Lie.

People know that I am honest, hard-working, and I really did the heavy-lifting to slash government spending and put our Town back on the right track financially. The TRUTH is that as Supervisor I took the critical steps necessary to put the Town on solid financial footing, as concluded by the NYS Comptroller’s Report, having reviewed 2008 and 2009 finances, the corrective actions that I spearheaded and my 2010 budget recovery plan which was implemented.

The Feb. and Aug. 2010 Moody's Credit Reports reviewed the 2008-2009 town finances and applauded my administration for its "conservative and transparent financial management ... swift and effective response to correct the internal accounting procedures ... and adoption of formal policies ..."  Plus – Moody’s indicated that future rating actions will heavily weight the Town Board’s compliance with my 2010 Budget Plan, adopted in Nov. 2009.

The Incumbent takes credit for 0% tax rate increases championed by fellow Councilpersons for the 2011 and 2012 budgets – meanwhile she voted No on those budgets and had originally proposed 2% increases.

But she has a story to tell you -- complete with charts and so forth -- and folks, she is sticking with her story.

What’s this election really all about?

I think it’s about TRUTH, TRUST, COURAGE, DEDICATION, TEAMWORK and as a homeowner and taxpayer – a VISION for the future of our Town for my children and yours.

I have the COURAGE.  I have the KNOW-HOW and EXPERIENCE.  As a candidate for Supervisor, I am offering my strength of character and tireless DEDICATION to the voters.

I NEED YOU to STAND UP for me like I stood up for you – the taxpayers.

WHO CAN YOU TRUST to provide strong, independent leadership?

WHO CAN YOU TRUST to ensure an environmentally and economically secure Town?

WHO CAN YOU TRUST to move the Town forward to a brighter future?

Send a message from the people that Southampton Town needs competent leadership and real results.

Send a Message that THE TRUTH MATTERS. Untruthfulness is not permissible in a public servant.

Together, we can TAKE BACK THE TOWN from special interests.  Restore honesty, integrity and capability to the Supervisor's Office.  We can bring back civility and move local government forward in the right direction.

Bring back a knowledgeable Supervisor who has a proven record of accomplishments as an administrator and innovator.  It's time for ego, power and behind-the-scenes manipulation to go.  I am accountable to you, the everyday people who live and work in our community, and not to outside influences.  I am the only truly Independent candidate who cannot be bought.

I am grateful for the support of so many people from all walks of life, from all political stripes, throughout our Town.

This time around – my name is on the ballot – I am running on the Republican and Conservative lines together with Stan Glinka and Jeff Mansfield for Southampton Town Board – Together, we are THE RIGHT TEAM AT THE RIGHT TIME.  Our platform is posted on www.LINDAKABOT.com

On Election Day, November 5, I respectfully ask for your vote for Supervisor.  Thank you.
