PRIMARY DAY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 Polls are Open 6 am to 9 pm

Today is PRIMARY DAY, Tuesday, September 10. Polls are open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.  Vote at your regular polling place.

If you are a Republican voter - there is a County-Wide Republican Primary for the positions of District Attorney and Sheriff.   Republican Ray Perini is challenging Democratic incumbent Tom Spota for the Republican designation on the General Election ballot for the position of District Attorney.  Republican Sam Barreto is challenging Conservative incumbent Vincent DeMarco for the position of Sheriff.  All four names will appear on the Primary Day ballot and Republican voters can select which candidate he or she prefers to have on the Republican line on the November 5 General Election ballot.

For local government positions in the Town of Southampton, there are NO primaries for Republican voters or Democratic voters or voters enrolled as members of the Independence Party.  However, voters enrolled with the Conservative Party and the Working Families Party DO have primaries for the positions of Town Supervisor and Superintendent of Highways respectively.

Southampton Town Conservative voters have the option of writing in the name of the candidate of their choice for the position of Town Supervisor.  There are NO names printed on the Primary Day ballot, just a blank box for the write-in.  Republican Linda Kabot has been actively campaigning as a write-in candidate seeking Conservative voter support on Primary Day.  Last week, Republican Phil Keith also announced his candidacy to seek the Conservative line by write-in on Primary Day.  The successful write-in candidate on Primary Day will have her or his name on the Conservative line on the November 5 General Election ballot.

For Working Families Party voters in the Town of Southampton, a Primary for the position of Highway Superintendent provides the choice of the incumbent Alex Gregor, whose name will be printed on the Primary Day ballot, or a write-in opportunity.  Republican Dave Betts has been actively campaigning as a write-in candidate seeking support from voters enrolled with the Working Families Party.  Alex Gregor is enrolled as a member of the Independence Party.  The successful candidate on Primary Day will have his name on the Working Families Party line on the November 5 General Election ballot.
