Hurricane Irene

Astrology can be used in many ways, in modern society we tend to use it for understanding our lives and understanding what is going on in the world around us. But it has also been, and still is used for physical ailments, hundreds of years ago a physician had to be an astrologer, he would take the time the person took to a sick bed make a chart and then come up with a prognosis. Modern medical astrology has become much more sophisticated as has modern medicine. We have also used astrology over the centuries to predict weather patterns. The farmer’s almanac, the most popular weather predicting forum aside from the weatherman is based on the position and sign the Moon is in as well as how the planets are interacting with each other in the heavens. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned we may see some extreme weather patterns this month because of the placement of the planets Mars and Uranus. Fortunately for us this energy is waning so we may see erratic weather but it won’t b e as bad as it could have been, especially since hurricane Irene has made the choice to come visit this week end. I went back over the past 75 years and looked at the charts of major hurricanes that have hit us on Long Island; these charts tend to have some similar patterns, which involved Full Moon and difficult Mars or Pluto aspects. We are on the down side of difficult Mars energy, so this will more than likely mean that Irene is not going to make a direct hit. We have a New Moon this weekend, the biggest issue there is that our tides will be much higher than normal, so I do think flooding is going to happen, it just won’t be as wide spread as we are now hearing. The Carolinas have a much stronger chance for major damage than we do here on Long Island. Uranus and Mercury are the planets that indicate the winds; both these planets are very active right now so the winds will kick up, but again not as badly as they could as this energy is also waning. Add to this the fact that we have a special configuration in the sky over the week end and into next week, a grand trine, I think all of us will fare better than is now being predicted. All of us should make sure we have ourselves and our families protected, we do have a major storm on the way but from an astrological perspective my feeling is we will dodge the bullet, the storm will hit but not as badly as we now fear.
