The Rising sign or Ascendant of a chart is the sign on the horizon when you were born, the degree changes every 4 minutes which is why a time of birth is important to an astrologer. The Ascendant is your physical body, it's also how you see the world, as a little baby when you opened your eye’s — how did you feel about this new life, were you happy, excited, scared, powerful.  Those feelings are filters for the way you view the world and the way the world view you.
