My guess is that it is somewhere near Roosevelt Field.

It most likely was near an airfield, as people here speculate.
I, however, grew up in Nassau County & in the late 50s there was an old dirt road that went through the back woods near Old Bethpage that passed abandoned fields that the kids would use as a bike path to Bethpage State Park picnic grounds. I don't know how far west it went, but it was known to us kids as the OLD Moter Parkway
