Holiday Gift Idea: Crafts at Mother Goose Toys

Crafts will be the hottest holiday item for kids this holiday season, especially after the explosion of the popular Rainbow Loom bracelet maker, according to owners of Mother Goose Toys on Main Street in Westhampton Beach.

This holiday season, owner Alex Dank, said he expects to sell more crafts than any other toy for kids of all ages.

"Rainbow Loom has set off a chain reaction in the toy industry," said Dank. "Now, crafting of all kinds are what kids want this holiday season."

Kids, said Dank, love to use their hands to create all sorts of things.

Dank, who has owned Westhampton Beach's Mother Goose Toys since 2012, recommends a number of crafts for kids, including duct tape pocketbooks, duct tape jewelry and ceramic bead sets.

For the ultimate building toy, Dank suggested Lazer Pegs, which is a step up from Legos and light up.

For younger children, Dank pointed to the nostalgic Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Rocking Horses and wooden doll houses.

Mother Goose also carries traditional items, including Hot Wheels, MatchBox and Barbies and provides free gift wrapping.

Mother Goose Toys is located at 87 Main Street and is open daily.
