  • Scientific Names, Is a starfish really a fish? Is a painted turtle really painted? Is a buttercup really made of butter? These names aren’t very accurate, but there are scientific names that make a lot of sense, once you learn to break them down. Just like the super cool names of dinosaurs, they are big words, but kids can learn them too. Join Tyler as we explore the museum, discuss the common and scientific names of the animals and plants that we live with, and learn to become better readers and writers at the same time.   • Parrish Art Museum, Open Studio For Children & Caregivers, The new open art studio is a place for families to engage, explore, and create art together through hands-on activities. Each month features a different theme and a variety of art materials and techniques inspired by the artwork on view in the galleries.
