Westhampton Students Wrap-Up a Bundle of Cheer for Needy Family

The students raised over $1,100 to buy Christmas gifts for a local family.

The Interact Club of Westhampton Beach High School is making one local family's wishes come true this Christmas.

The 60-member club, through a series of bake sales, raised more than $1,100 to buy Christmas gifts for local family of 5 in need as part of an adopt-a-family program.

According to the school district, Interact officers Laura Halsey, Frank Leotta, Kiera Soloman and Sarah Strebel shopped together to purchase the gifts that were wrapped on Dec. 11 by all the members and then brought to the Immaculate Conception Church where the family will be able to pick them up in time for Christmas.

“So many of the Interact kids baked and helped sell our goods each week,” said adviser Susan Kearns. “Their investment and enthusiasm about our goal was contagious.”
