5 Places to Donate Food in Westhampton-Hampton Bays

Find a round-up of local places that are collecting food for the needy this winter.

It's that time of year again, when food banks need to be replenished as the holiday season kicks off and winter sets in.

The following is a round-up of local places that are collecting food that will be donated to those in need and to area food pantries.

1. Westhampton Food Pantry

Located at the in Westhampton Beach, 580 Main St. Westhampton Beach, the Westhampton Food Pantry, is always looking for canned goods. Goods can be left anytime on the porch of the rectory. People that are in need can access the pantry on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. They just need to contact the church ahead of time at (631) 288-1423.

2. Maureen's Haven

The weather is starting to turn and which houses the homeless in the winter is starting to gear up. The non-profit is always in need of not only goods such as food, clothing and toiletries, but also volunteers. For more information, call (631) 727-6831.

3. St. Rosalie's Food Pantry

St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays is also looking to stock its food pantry shelves for the holidays. Donations can be brought to the church Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Anyone in need can access the food pantry on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10 a.m.and 2 p.m. For more information, call 728-9461.

4. Stop & Shop

Stop & Shop of Hampton Bays has teamed up with Island Harvest Food Bank in this year's Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign to help supply a holiday style meal to those in need. By purchasing a $10 pre-packaged box, available at any Long Island Stop & Stop store throughout November and December, customers will help Island Harvest provide struggling families and individuals with all of the items necessary for a holiday dinner.

5. Good Ground Yoga

Through the months of November and December, Good Ground Yoga, 107-5 Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, will be collecting canned goods for Island Harvest. The studio is also hosting a special yoga class on Thanksgiving Day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. The special “Gratitude Class” costs $30 with 50 percent of the proceeds going directly to Long Island Cares.
