Adopt-a-thon for Southampton Animal Shelter

Just a little tidbit about what's going on at the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation over the next couple of weeks: October 20th, the SUBARU, dealership,(known for their animal friendliness!!), in Riverhead will host an adopt-a-thon for the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, to be followed by another Riverhead business leader, Agway, on Saturday October 27th, who will do the same. HOWL-o-Ween will be celebrated this year, as ME-owl-o-Ween, at the shelter on Sunday, October 28th and will feature face painting, costume contests for YOU AND YOUR DOG, an agility demonstration at 2:00 p.m. and, OF COURSE, an all day ADOPT-O-WEEN so that our beautiful dogs, cats, puppies and kittens can find their forever home, Deborah & Paul Laube, (former owners of the Country Market on Noyac Road),  will donate their over-the-top yummy, delicious cupcakes, cookies and assorted breads, (pumpkin, apple, zucchini, etc!) to the shelter for the bake sale. (sorry! their recipes are all old family secrets!!) Bring the entire family! This wraps up October - Launching November is Playing for Life! implemented in 2008 by Henry Bergh Leadership Award winner and SASF Director of Training & Behavior, Aimee Sadler. Playing for Life! will be hosted at the shelter on Monday, November 5th from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The morning will feature a power point presentation incorporating over an hour of video, providing a stimulating and entertaining visual package for attendees. The afternoon session will be 100% hands-on demonstration of play groups, highlighting the introduction of new dogs into already existing groups. Registration for this program is highly encouraged. The fee for the entire day's program is $60 per person, lunch included! This day is not to be missed. Aimee has been working with with animals professionally for over twenty-five years. She has supported over thirty shelters around the country in the implementation of play groups, resulting in positive feedback from all involved. But, stay tuned!!
