Auditions for "Other Desert Cities"

The Hampton Theatre Company will hold open auditions for “Other Desert Cities," Jon Robin Baitz's drama about a family gathering at which the imminent publishing of an explosive memoir threatens to tear the family apart. Auditions are Sunday, August 25 from 2-4 pm and Monday, August 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Quogue Community Hall on Jessup Avenue in Quogue. Both union and non-union actors are invited to attend.

HTC is seeking actors for the roles of: LYMAN WYETH (late 60s), a wealthy former movie star and ambassador once steeped in Reagan Republican politics, now self-exiled to Palm Springs; POLLY WYETH (late 60s), Lyman's wife - tough, bitter and hard, and terrified of being otherwise, holding things together despite life's extreme disappointments; BROOKE WYETH (40s), Lyman and Polly's daughter, a depressive and fragile writer who has recovered from a nervous breakdown by writing an explosive book about the family's most painful chapter for which she has come home to seek her parents' blessing; TRIP WYETH (30S), Lyman and Polly's youngest child, a TV producer, and the least scarred member of the family, one who is actually calm and at ease, as well as his mother's darling; and SILDA GRAUMAN (60s), Polly's sister and former partner in a scriptwriting team, a wisecracking burnt-out alcoholic, and favorite aunt.

Rehearsals for “Other Desert Cities" begin September 16, with performances running from October 24 through November 10 (with a possible extension through November 17), on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, at the Quogue Community Hall. Sarah Hunnewell directs.
Readings will be from the script. No monologue or appointment is necessary. For more information, contact hamptontheatre@optonline.net or 631-726-4656.
