Blogger: Use Social Media To Make A Difference; KONY 2012 [VIDEO]

A recent film by Jason Russell is trending on all forms of social media encouraging people across the world to build awareness of a global issue and ultimately help those suffering.

The title of the film itself is a unique play on our country's current obsession with the 2012 election. We all complain that none of the presidents have made/will make a difference. Well here's how you can. 

But who is Joseph Kony? That's the point of Jason Russell's film. He's the man at the top of the International Criminal Court's indicted list because he abducts children in Africa, using the girls as sex slaves and the boys as perpetrators of his twisted acts of violence (including forcing them to murder their own parents).

The problem is that no one is stopping him, mainly because no one knows about him. Our government is just starting to help African troops find Kony. Russell's goal is to have this accomplished by the end of 2012 through awareness, action and love.

So let's take the focus away from the current policy makers and instead, use their tactics to make a real change. Bottom line: politics work. It is no longer about "who you know" but about how many people you can reach. So let's shift our focus and use things like Facebook to spread ideas that move people and ultimately our world in a different direction.
