League of Women Voters Sets Debate for Oct. 24

Candidates for Suffolk County Legislature and Southampton Town Board and Supervisor will answer questions in Southampton debate.

The League of Women Voters has scheduled a debate for the candidates for Southampton Town positions, as well as the Suffolk County Legislature, at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton on Oct. 24.

LWV Voter Services co-chair Carol Mellor will moderate the debate between Suffolk County Legis. Jay Schneiderman, I-Montauk, and Republican candidate Christopher Nuzzi, followed the two candidates for Southampton Town Supervisor Republican candidate Linda Kabot and Democratic Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst. The four candidates running for two seats on the Southampton Town Board — Democrats Brad Bender and Frank Zappone and Republicans Stan Glinka and Jeff Mansfield.

The debate starts at 7 p.m.

Other candidates are invited to introduce themselves. Southampton Town’s SEA-TV will tape the debate for later viewing on Channel 22.

Candidates will make timed opening and closing statements and answer questions submitted by a panel of local media editors, as well as by the audience.

The League of Women Voters is also sponsoring a debate between Schneiderman and Nuzzi, as well as candidates for positions in East Hampton Town, on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. That debate will be held at Emergency Communications Building in East Hampton
