Spray tanning myths - BUSTED!

You’re going to be orange. You’re going to stink. You’re going to be pale the next day.

Although our Bronze Hampton Sunless Tanning Spray is a customer favorite among those who’ve tried it there are myths about spray tanning that we still hear regularly. Spray tanning will actually make you appear more slender, and helps cover up imperfections like spider veins. With wedding, graduation and prom season in full swing now is a great time to give your first spray tan a try! Now let's bust those sunless tanning myths...

Myth #1 You’re going to be orange. There are many different spray tan solutions on the market today. At E Day Spa and Salon we use a custom formulated solution, called Bronze Hampton, that we guarantee will never make you orange. With any fine salon, solutions can be customized  for the palest skin tones to dark skin tones. No “Snooki” orange tans!

Myth #2 You’re going to stink. Let me start by saying that spray tan solutions have come a long way. In the early days solutions and self tanning creams did have a distinctive odor to them.  Fortunately new technology has eliminated that. The solution I use at my salon is fragrance free so if you are sensitive to perfumes, don’t worry. If you're looking to get a spray tan elsewhere be sure to ask about the neutralizers or perfumes used in the salon especially if you are sensitive to those chemicals.

Myth #3 You’re going to be pale the next day. Amazingly, spray tans work much like a real tan and your color will continue to develop over 6 to 8 hours, after which time you can shower. You can expect your tan to last for approximately a week to 10 days. At E Day Spa, we offer home care products to help keep the skin moisturized and to prolong the life of your tan.

Ready to tan?
Be sure to shower, shave and exfoliate before your spray tan.  Do not use any creams or lotions on your skin.  Most importantly, make sure not to use  deodorant.  The ingredients in deodorant will react with the spray tan and cause discoloration.  Be sure to bring wear loose, dark clothing to put on after you are sprayed.  Most people wear nothing while they get sprayed, but you may wear a bathing suit if you prefer.

If you’re unsure if spray tanning is right for you please don’t hesitate to stop in to E Day Spa and Salon anytime and I’d be happy to personally answer your questions and/or show you our signature Bronze Hampton product line,  which is available exclusively at our salon.
