Your Weekend Planner: Earth Day Events and Celebrations

The Town of Southampton is once again hosting the Great East End Clean-Up, a volunteer based project to get rid of litter and debris on the side of roads, in parks and on beaches. The event will take place at all area beaches and parks on Saturday and Sunday. In Hampton Bays, The Hampton Bays Mother's Association will be cleaning up at Red Creek Park, all are invited to help.

An Earth Day festival will take place on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. on the village green in Westhampton Beach. The free event will feature music, demonstrations and crafts.

On Saturday at 3:45 will meet at the East Quogue Village Green. Bring $20 and get discounts to Main Street Shops.

Southampton Town Board members Christine Scalera and Chris Nuzzi are launching the “Greener Southampton: the Solution is in the Bag” campaign to reduce plastic bag use, increase recycling by 15 percent over the next year, and encourage the public to “bring your own bag,” with an ultimate goal of a 100 percent reduction of single use plastic bags in the environment and landfills at the Hampton Bays on Saturday a noon.

The is hosting an Earth Day Celebration on Sunday at 11 a.m. The free event will feature crafts, tours and exhibits.
