Westhampton Beach Issues Mandatory Evacuation of Category 2 Flood Zone

The Village says police and firefighters are going door to door.

The Village of Westhampton Beach has issued a mandatory evacuation of residents living in the Category 2 Flood Zone as waters begin to rise as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The notice comes after the village issued a mandatory evacuation of its category 1 Flood Zone, which includes all of Dune Road on Sunday afternoon.

According to Rebeccca Molinaro, village clerk, most residents in the Category 2 Flood zone left on Sunday as a precaution. The Category 2 zone includes all homes and businesses south of Main Street.
