On Tuesday, the Town Board voted "no" to holding a public hearing on a proposal to ban the use of plastic bags. The hearing vote failed 3-2, with Councilmen Chris Nuzzi and Jim Malone and Councilwoman Nancy Graboski voting “no.” View the full .

Southampton residents reported that despite a new highway department policy that stated that loose leaves would not be collected, their leaves were picked up by highway workers. Find out more.

Southampton bought 29-acres in East Quogue, which span from Montauk Highway south along Josiah Foster Path, for $5.4 million Tuesday from C&C Shorelands, Swan Acres and Coastal Vision in a last-minute deal that had to close before the end of the year. The money for the purchase comes out the Community Preservation Fund. East Quogue Civic members are concerned about boat slips on the land.  Read more .
