2. Residents Rally Online for Restoration of Shellfish Seeding Program

Seeding the bay with shellfish is a huge economic driver for the town, said Donna Olson, of Southampton, as she stood before the Southampton Town Board on Tuesday night asking the supervisor to reinstate $27,000 in seeding money that is proposed to be cut from the town's budget.

3. Cops: Burglar Who Bound Victim Caught

A man who bound a victim while burglarizing a Hampton Bays home in 2006 has been caught.

Police say that on Oct. 19, with the assistance of the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, William S. Miller, 44, was arrested and charged with burglary in the first degree, a felony. He is being held on $500,000 bail.

4. Southampton Cops Locate Suicidal Man After Massive Search

Southampton Town Police went on a man hunt on Sunday night after a distressed family member from East Quogue called police to report that a suicidal man had run off on foot.

Police called in a Suffolk County Police helicopter and K-9 unit to assist in the search effort, which went on for nearly two hours, according to Sgt. Howard Kalb.

Kalb says the 22-year-old was eventually located on Railroad Avenue in Manorville and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for evaluation.

5. Business Owner Hopes Beads Will Be Dogs' Best Friends

Debbie Foglia of Remsenburg announced the kick-off of her new community service project, which aims to provide money to local animal shelters.
