Village Police Officers of The Year Named

Westhampton and Quogue Village Police Departments recently honored their own.

Each year, villiage police departments honor an officer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. This year was no different and recently the Village of Quogue and Westhampton Beach Police Departments named their respective officers of the year.

In Quogue, the 2012 officer of the year is three-year Officer Daniel Hartman.

According to the Quogue Police Department, Hartman is being honored for his outstanding work and for saving the life of a Quogue resident.

Earlier in 2012, Hartman responded to a cardiac arrest incident and using an AED, he managed to bring the resident back to life.

In Westhampton Beach, village police have bestoed the honor of officer of the year to Officer Ken Bigora.

Bigora, according to village police, is a seven-year officer, who has never once used a sick day.

In a statement, village police said, "Throughout Police Officer Bigora’s career, he has displayed an honest and hardworking work ethic. Officer Bigora gives 100 percent every tour."

P. Killian, Thanks for asking. We just reached out to State police. They are doing seatbelt checks.
