Village of Quogue Issues Mandatory Evacuation Notice

Quogue says it has closed access to Dune Road.

Village of Quogue Mayor Peter Sartorius has issued a mandatory evacuation of all residents living on Dune Road and areas of the village that are listed in the Category 1 evacuation area.

The village has also closed incoming access to Dune Road and Mayor Sartorius has signed a declaration of a State of Emergency.

Quogue's evacuation notice comes after the Villages of Westhampton Beach and West Hampton Dunes issued similar notices earlier on Sunday.

Westhampton Beach started evacuation at noon, while West Hampton Dunes' evacuation was effective, starting at 3 p.m.

The shelter at Hampton Bays High School has been opened since 8 a.m. and is ready to take in residents. Those residents with pets can go to a shelter at the Suffolk County Community College's Eastern Campus, Woodlands Building, located at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, in Riverside.
